Irregular Dwarf
0 star systems

A starburst irregular dwarf galaxy and the only known starburst galaxy in the Local Group. IC 10 is forming stars at a ferocious rate relative to its size, packed with Wolf-Rayet stars — massive, luminous stars shedding their outer layers in violent stellar winds. Hidden behind the Milky Way's dust, it was not recognized as a member of the Local Group until the late 20th century.
