M32

A compact elliptical galaxy and one of the closest satellites of Andromeda. M32 is unusual — most galaxies of its size are diffuse dwarfs, but M32 is dense and bright, suggesting it may be the stripped remnant of a once-larger spiral galaxy whose outer arms were torn away by Andromeda's gravity.
