Magic System
Resonance is drawn from leyline energy (primary) and from the practitioner's own Chord-node biological resonance (secondary). Extended working depletes the Chord-node, causing physical exhaustion and sensory dampening.
The leylines formed as the planet cooled and the crystal lattice of the crust aligned. The dimensional membrane between the physical plane and the Chord sub-dimension is thin at these crystal boundaries — energy seeps through continuously. Life evolved to use this energy first passively, then actively.
Basic passive reception requires no training — all Veyari feel leylines naturally. Active tuning takes 3-5 years of study. Expert working takes decades. Master-level practitioners who can work multiple simultaneous frequencies are rare in any generation.
Veyari technology IS resonance technology — there is no distinction. 'Magic' and 'technology' are the same word in Glyphic.
The Veyari do not call it 'magic.' The closest Glyphic translation of their word for it is 'the audible world' — the universe as perceived through Chord-node rather than eyes.
