Flora

Chordbalm Healweed

Appearance Full

Chordbalm Healweed grows knee-high in nearly every Originis meadow as a clump of sage-green oval leaves silvered with fine down beneath, topped by small pale-gold daisy flowers rose-flushed at the petal tip. The scent rises warm with honey and mint when the leaves are crushed, and bees of every chord-tone visit the bloom. The roots are shallow and fibrous, giving up the plant easily to a careful gather. Healers across all five Veyari subtypes carry dried Chordbalm in their kits, and home-gardens always include a corner of it. The flower closes at full dark and re-opens at first chord-light, a small daily metronome any Veyari child learns to read for time. Brushed by hand the silvered down of the leaves catches in the skin and faintly glows for a few minutes, harmless and pleasant. A single Chordbalm patch can support a household's medicinal needs for a year if cut carefully and dried fully under shade.

Magic Properties

Lore

Chordbalm is one of the few plants every Veyari subtype agrees on. Healers' kits across the supercontinent carry the same sage-and-gold sprig as a guild-mark. A Valari proverb runs, where Chordbalm grows, no one dies of a small thing, and Cael, Thal, Dren, and Myrr all have near-identical proverbs of their own. Folk medicine and trained chord-healers use it interchangeably.
