Irregular Dwarf
A lonely dwarf irregular galaxy on the outer fringes of the Local Group, IC 1613 contains remarkably little interstellar dust, making it one of the most transparent galaxies known — a clear window through which astronomers can study individual stars and Cepheid variable pulsations without dust interference.
